Personal Assistant Induction E-Learning Course
The Government Transformation Agenda aims to improve Social Care for disabled people, older people and families with disabled children. This Personal Assistant Induction e-learning course focuses on those individuals, (referred to as Employers), who decide to employ a Personal Assistant, (PA).
Personal Assistant Induction Aims
Receiving a Personal or Individual Budget to buy their own support enables the individual to employ a PA. This allows them to be at the centre of all decision-making about the support and the services they receive from their PAs and promotes independent living. A PA will need induction in how to support their Employer.
Personal Assistant Induction E-Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide Employers, their PAs, Health, Care Management and Voluntary sector staff with knowledge and skills in:
- Understanding the importance of Employers directing the work of PAs and making their own life choices
- Building strong Employer/Employee relationships and keeping them safe
- Helping PAs provide effective, person-centred support
- Developing an understanding of professional boundaries and disabilities, equality and cultural awareness
- Developing the PA’s skills and knowledge

The Personal Assistant Induction E-learning course includes:
- The background to Personalisation and employing PAs
- The role of the PA and the practical skills and expertise they need to do the tasks that are required of them
- How to build good working relationships between an Employer and their PA and keep them both safe
- Interviews with Employers and their PAs
