Lead Professional Aims

Children, Young People and Families who require integrated support from more than one practitioner want one identified professional to support them and ensure that their needs are met.

The Lead Professional role was created to support The Children Act (2004) which directed Local Authorities to work in close partnership with all agencies to improve the wellbeing of children and put them at the centre of all they do.

The Lead Professional acts as a single point of contact for a child and their family to ensure that services are co-ordinated, consistent and achieve the intended outcomes.
