Kwango is pleased to announce the launch of its Support Brokerage E-Learning course. It is the 6th of our suite of Transformation programmes and the latest addition to our other popular Adult Services and Health Care E-Learning Courses.

Support Brokerage is now seen as a crucial component to the transformation of Social Care under the Government’s Personalisation Agenda and our Support Brokerage e-learning course is designed to help train the large and varied cross section of people involved in it.

Our course aims to promote an understanding of the role of a Support Broker among service users, their families, carers, staff and managers in statutory and voluntary organisations within the Health, Social and Community Sectors; offer an introduction to good policy and practice in the areas of Personalisation and Self-Directed Care and promote the development of support that is truly user-led.

Our high quality course contains interviews with Support Brokers, case studies and quizzes to further engage learners. As with all our courses, it can be customised for each individual organisation and allows electronic tracking of user and usage. It can also be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which gives learners both the advantage and flexibility of completing the course at their own pace and to suit their work schedule.

Autism is a lifelong development disability affecting how an individual communicates and relates to the world around them.

Everyone with an Autistic Spectrum Condition is unique. As highlighted in the ‘Getting it Right for People with Autism’ 2011 report, it is essential that Care and Support Services work together to give careful consideration to each person’s particular needs, strengths, talents and wishes. Support should be person centred and timely.
Working this way will make a positive difference to people’s lives and will help us to value the things they bring to ours.

Our Understanding Autism E-learning course is designed for anyone whose job may bring them into day to day contact with people with Autism. The course aims to help in a number of ways. These include providing a ‘basic awareness’ level of skills and knowledge as described in the Autism Skills and Knowledge list produced by Skills for Health, Skills for Care and the National Autistic Society. It offers an introduction to policy and good practice in supporting people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and also provides practical approaches, tools and technologies that promote a person centred approach to meeting needs.

Our high quality course contains case studies and quizzes to further engage learners. As with all our courses, it can be customised for each individual organisation and allows electronic tracking of user and usage. It can also be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which gives learners both the advantage and flexibility of completing the course at their own pace and to suit their work schedule.

It is the 5th addition to our suite of Transformation Agenda E-Learning.

Current national policies around Personalisation require employers to provide more flexible and individualised care and support to give people maximum control and choice.

Person Centred Thinking e-learning is an awareness level programme designed to help Health, Social Care, PVI staff, together with the people they support and their carers, in a number of ways.

Kwango is pleased to announce the launch of its Common Core of Skills and Knowledge E-Learning course, which is the latest addition to its other popular Children’s Services, Adult Services and Health Care E-Learning Courses.

In line with the current Government’s ‘Help Children Achieve More’ strategy and its emphasis on all organisations working together to ensure this happens, our Common Core framework describes the basic skills and knowledge needed if you have regular contact with children, young people and families through your job.

Workers need good basic knowledge and skills so that services meet people’s needs and improve children’s life chances.

Common Core of Skills and Knowledge e-learning is an awareness level programme designed to help children’s workforce staff in the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors in a number of ways. These include providing a basic understanding of the importance of child protection; knowledge of local procedures to keep children safe; working with other agencies to deliver a good service; learning effective communication skills and how to share information appropriately; understanding how babies, children and young people develop and providing support during periods of transition.

It is the foundation on which to make use of some of our other programmes including Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Leadership, CAF, Integrated Working, Lead Professional, Information Sharing and Working with Parents.

As with all our courses, it can be customised for each individual organisation to meet their particular local strategies. We have already created bespoke foundation programmes for Warrington- ‘One Force’ and are in the process of completing Tower Hamlets ‘Family Wellbeing Model’.

The course allows electronic tracking of user and usage and can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which gives learners both the advantage and flexibility of completing the course at their own pace and to suit their work schedule.

Kwango is pleased to announce the launch of its Better Health, Better Lives E-Learning course, which is the latest addition to its other popular Children’s Services, Adult Services and Health Care E-Learning Courses.
Good health is important to everyone and people with learning disabilities can often have difficulty accessing healthcare and be more likely to experience ill health than the general population. In line with the Government’s Valuing People Now strategy which makes ‘Better Health’ for people with learning disabilities one of its top priorities, Kwango’s Better Health, Better Lives E-Learning course is designed to promote the health and well-being of people with learning disabilities.

Better Health, Better Lives e-learning is an awareness level programme designed to help frontline Health and Social Care staff and the private, voluntary and independent sectors in a number of ways. These include providing a basic understanding of what a learning disability is; common health issues experienced by people with learning disabilities; access to healthcare for people with learning disabilities; supporting their health needs in the community; promoting healthy lifestyles and community issues.

Commissioner of our ‘Better Health, Better Lives’ E-Learning course Jim Blair, Consultant Nurse Learning Disabilities, St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust and Senior Lecturer Learning Disabilities, Kingston University/St George’s University of London comments:

‘I think this is an excellent tool and should as a package enhance the care people with learning disability experience. I recommend its use within all health and social care as well as educational settings to enhance awareness of the particular issues people with a learning disability and their families face when coming into contact with services. This programme provides guidance on how to get things right when supporting people with a learning disability. Hopefully through using this programmes the care and support people with a learning disability receive in the UK will improve greatly.’

Our high quality course contains photo-animated interviews with those with learning disabilities and quizzes to further engage learners. As with all our courses, it can be customised for each individual organisation and allows electronic tracking of user and usage. It can also be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which gives learners both the advantage and flexibility of completing the course at their own pace and to suit their work schedule.

Kwango is delighted to announce that it has just won the National Skills Academy Excellence Award for Learning Programmes. It is the first E-Learning company to achieve this highly prestigious award in recognition of its high quality Social Care E-Learning Programmes.

The National Skills Academy Review Panel praised Kwango’s clear understanding of how the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion targets are core to the organisation’s vision and mission and how the flexibility, accessibility and costs of the programmes are very attractive for learners and employers.

Steve Gould, Director of Kwango, said: ‘We are delighted to win this award. We welcome and value independent accreditation from an organisation whose remit is to promote excellence in Social Care Training. This is a means of quality assuring our e-learning courses and our customers can be confident that our organisation and programmes have passed the rigorous scrutiny necessary to achieve this endorsement’.
