Kwango is pleased to announce the launch of its Consent to Treatment in Mental Health Law E-Learning course. It is the latest addition to our other popular Adult Services and Health Care E-Learning Courses.

To meet CQC standards, our Consent to Treatment in Mental Health Law E-Learning Course provides an effective way of ensuring that large numbers of learners have a clear awareness of Consent both in hospitals and in the community.

Our course is designed to help practitioners in Health, Social Care and other Statutory Agencies and the Private, Voluntary and Independent Sectors in a number of ways. These include understanding the background to Consent to Treatment; the principles underpinning Consent to Treatment in Mental Health Law; legislation impacting on Consent to Treatment in Mental Health Law and examples of good and bad practice in relation to Consent to Treatment.

Guy Davis, Strategic Lead on Mental Health Law, East London NHS Trust; Chair of the former Institute of Mental Health Practitioners and Chair of the an on-line Mental Health Law Discussion Group comments:
‘East London NHS Trust commissioned Consent to Treatment E-Learning from Kwango. My colleague, Jo Turner and I helped with developing the content plus featured in photo-animated interviews with former patients and ourselves. The programme is very interactive and we are happy to recommend it as a pre-learner ahead of training, a refresher following training or as awareness raising for staff unable to attend training’.

Our high quality course contains case studies and quizzes to further engage learners. As with all our courses, it can be customised for each individual organisation and allows electronic tracking of user and usage. It can also be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which gives learners both the advantage and flexibility of completing the course at their own pace and to suit their work schedule.

Autism is a lifelong development disability affecting how an individual communicates and relates to the world around them.

Everyone with an Autistic Spectrum Condition is unique. As highlighted in the ‘Getting it Right for People with Autism’ 2011 report, it is essential that Care and Support Services work together to give careful consideration to each person’s particular needs, strengths, talents and wishes. Support should be person centred and timely.
Working this way will make a positive difference to people’s lives and will help us to value the things they bring to ours.

Our Understanding Autism E-learning course is designed for anyone whose job may bring them into day to day contact with people with Autism. The course aims to help in a number of ways. These include providing a ‘basic awareness’ level of skills and knowledge as described in the Autism Skills and Knowledge list produced by Skills for Health, Skills for Care and the National Autistic Society. It offers an introduction to policy and good practice in supporting people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and also provides practical approaches, tools and technologies that promote a person centred approach to meeting needs.

Our high quality course contains case studies and quizzes to further engage learners. It is the 5th addition to our suite of Transformation Agenda E-Learning.

Current national policies around Personalisation require employers to provide more flexible and individualised care and support to give people maximum control and choice.

This develops an organisational culture which values and empowers people, respecting them as individuals and promoting their rights, dignity, choice, aspirations, independence and overall wellbeing.

Person Centred Thinking e-learning is an awareness level programme designed to help Health, Social Care, PVI staff, together with the people they support and their carers, in a number of ways. These include providing an awareness of what Person Centred Thinking means; the Background to Person Centred Thinking in Social and Healthcare; what Person Centred Practice is; Person Centred Thinking tools and how to use them; Person Centred approaches in assessment and planning and Person Centred Support and Care.

Our high quality course contains photo-animated interviews with those using a Person Centred approach, case studies and quizzes to further engage learners. As with all our courses, it can be customised for each individual organisation and allows electronic tracking of user and usage. It can also be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which gives learners both the advantage and flexibility of completing the course at their own pace and to suit their work schedule.
